Like a bright cloud floating over the dark sky,
Like a drop of pure water in a barren desert,
Like a twinkling dot of light in a sombre night dream,
You appear in this world,
As a Tathāgata’s messenger , true and genuine.
Ageing has weighed you down like snow on a high mountain,
Yet tirelessly East and West, you continue to travel,
Without a frown amid a jungle of stubbornness and delusion.
Your only weapon is wisdom and compassion,
To illuminate people’s understanding,
Warm up their hearts,
Opening the door of your heart to embrace the world.
Such is enough
To well up my eyes with tears,
Your old age I love and revere.
Your noble virtues are
Comparable to the brightest moon and stars,
Shining quietly and naturally,
With nobody to shine,
And no action of shining
It’s the unconditioned…
